Applied Nanoscience and Photonics Group

Principal Investigator
I have been a professor in the Department of Physics since June 2017. I hold a PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona, a degree in Physics, and a master’s in physics from the National University of Colombia. Thanks to my work in nanoscience and alternative energies, my doctoral thesis was awarded the distinction of excellence "Cum-Laude". During my PhD, my research focused on developing solution-based synthesis strategies for nanoparticles to produce nanostructured materials with optimized thermoelectric properties. Additionally, I participated in several projects aimed at applying solution-based nanoparticles in the production of photovoltaic devices and the field of catalysis. In 2013, I was a visiting researcher at the Novel Materials Laboratory at the University of South Florida, where I helped establish a research line in nanocomposites for thermoelectric applications. Between 2014 and 2017, I worked as a research technician in the Department of Advanced Materials at the Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya (IREC) in Barcelona. As a result of my research work, I have published more than 35 articles in high-impact international journals, with an h-index of 18. My current research interests include producing, characterizing, and optimizing nanostructured materials with different electronic, structural, and thermal properties for applications in energy conversion and storage.
